Indian captain Virat Kohli expressed disappointment after the first Test against England ended in a draw, with rain washing out the entire final day’s play. India needed 157 runs with nine wickets in hand to go 1-0 up in the five-match series but persistent rain did not allow a single ball to be bowled

England skipper Joe Root scored a brilliant hundred on Day 4 of the Nottingham Test against India. Team India pacer Jasprit Bumrah however claimed five wickets to keep India ahead in the game. Root’s ton led England to 303, giving them a lead of 208. Needing 209 for victory, India finished Day 4 on 52 for 1. Stuart Broad dismissed India’s first-innings hero KL Rahul for 26. Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara were at the crease when stumps were drawn.

Team India opener Rohit Sharma has defended the pull shot that led to his dismissal on Day 2 of the Trent Bridge Test against England on Thursday. Sharma fell for 36 at the stroke of lunch, trying to take on Ollie Robinson. All he managed though was to guide the ball into the hands of Sam Curran in the deep. Admitting that he was disappointed to have gotten out just before lunch, the batsman added that he will keep playing his strokes if the ball is there to be hit.

Veteran Indian pacer Mohammed Shami has stated that the ball did not do a lot on the first day of the Trent Bridge Test. He asserted that India bowled in the right areas, which is why they were rewarded with wickets. Having lost the toss, India bowled England out for 183 on Day 1 of the first Test. Jasprit Bumrah starred with four wickets while Shami claimed three. Shardul Thakur, who was a surprise selection also chipped in with a couple, including the big one of Joe Root.
